Well, Jane is absolutely gorgeous and has the most fabulous hair and smile. It was such a pleasure to draw her and what a fun theme for her bat mitzvah! I love a city theme.

What a beauty Marissa is and
what a pleasure it was to draw her. Marissa’s event
colors are pink and black and we had a great time with
them even incorporating them into a metallic card stock
for the back of her invitations (not shown). Marissa
wrote me this: “OMG, the invitations are amazing! I have
never seen such a cool invitation.” I love it when the
kids are happy.

SAGE bonaire
28/01/13 16:34 Filed in: samplesLogo
This was a fun one. A
wonderful client from Bonaire in the Netherland Antilles
contacted me for a logo for her new company. Taking my
inspiration from the island’s habitat as well as
recognizing that this was for a newly-established
financial institution, I designed the below. Muted colors
are out when dealing with Bonaire. Other design elements
included the sage leaf (representing new beginnings and a
bow to the company name) and the water wave at the
bottom. The outside image is in a square format to
represent strength, stability and power. They loved it.

A Christmas Gift from Dad
28/01/13 15:53
This was a beautiful idea. A
Dad called me about making a memory for his young
children. Not traditionally sentimental, he wanted to
instead give them a personal message they wouldn’t
forget. I thought this was really touching. I’m pretty
sure he was careful not to give them this at the same
time he was giving them an XBox! :)

Giant Leaf!
28/01/13 15:50
Boy, I have not been
posting. I’ve been very busy though designing stuff for
my Elevate Your Sleep project and for my
favorite bat mitzvah kids. Like all designers, I like to
work in different mediums though and, in my off time,
I’ve been knitting giant things and here’s a fun
sampling. I’m planning on covering my apartment’s floor
in them instead of a standard rug.

blog more frequently?
Very excited to be given a grant to help educate upper- and lower-school students about sleep. I’ve become an engaging sleep nerd since I began my research and am completely awed by the power of sleep. More on this later as my project develops!

Here’s a great new bar mitzvah, Adam. Adam loves sports
and wanted an NFL theme but “not football”. Not exactly
sure where to go from there, I felt it was best to
incorporate the NFL logo in some way, so I created two
stylized stars and football looks. That worked. :)
Red or blue??
26/04/12 08:47 Filed in: samplesportraits
These images were created
for a NY interior designer. His client was wearing a pair
of shoes like this and he wanted to incorporate a very
large scale image of something like them into his
apartment.
I think shoelaces are harder to draw than faces: shadow, shadow, shadow, highlight. Beat up old shoes seem to have a very distinct personality. I modeled these after a pair of my son’s old ones. Wasn’t sure I’d ever finish. We’re working with the base of the shoe color now as well as the cropping to figure out what looks best. Once printed, I’ll sign the piece.

Working on a great shoe graphic now too for a NYC client. They needed something very specific for their home, concept and size wise.

The top was my original submission. The client asked me to incorporate an extra scroll in the below graphic and a change of text. Any thoughts on which is better, please email me at liz@olinergraphics.com
This should be a fun event. Still waiting on approval from the client. The intention for the event is to have split the participants into the 12 tribes of Israel and trek them around the various locations and big events of the Torah! Sounds fun. Hope they serve food.

It's be kind to tall people day. If anyone wants to
take pity on me and "like" my Oliner Graphics fb page, that would
be very kind. I'm trying to remember that
marketing is a good thing to do when one is in
business. Speaking of being kind to tall people.
Am I the only person in the world that actually
grew an inch in her forties? For the past two
years my doctor has informed me that, indeed, I am
now 6'3". Oh my.

NY Post article!
02/03/12 13:41
Very much looking forward to
having Oliner Graphics’ app “Shabbat Blessings” featured
in an upcoming NY Post article. We were contacted last
week regarding women-owned app development businesses.
We’ve been told that they are even sending a
photographer! How exciting! I suppose my standard artist
haircut may need to become more polished rather quickly.
:)
In other news, we’re very much looking forward to our West Village studio becoming completed. Since the space is so small, I’ve really pushed the vertical space factor. My super figured out pretty quickly I was a designer when I kept talking about line and depth. The floor’s in, the tile is up in the micro bathroom and we’re awaiting the custom build-ins. (I originally thought it would be fun to make the cabinets myself but was quickly talked out of that!) We did a lot with a little space and cannot wait to use it!

Are there Ketubbahs in my future?

Had a great, great design idea recently. I’m going to
put together some kind of Ketubbah option for my

FINALLY! Our latest app is out — and it’s a FREE download!!!
Designed for your iPhone/iTouch/iPad
Of course, I’m always thinking in the Jewish/Yiddish style and since I’m also on weight watchers (again), I’m thinking about food ALL THE TIME right now. “A Little Nosh” Pachinko Game is our tribute to the Latkas, corned beefs on ryes, pickels, sour cream and black and white cookies of your past and future.
Have some fun trying to get the latkes to hit the sour cream and rack up points. The high point score in the Oliner home is 23.

I don’t do calligraphy for clients as I’m busy
illustrating for them all the time, but I found a great
link for someone who does — Irene, at Calligraphy, by
Hand. Fellow Graphic Designer Irene turned to custom
calligraphy years 30 years ago. Custom calligraphy is
perfect for special occasions where you’d like to set a
special tone. Check her out here. Once you order
your Oliner Graphics invites you could go here and
finish them up! She works nationally and

Mitzvah Chic collaboration!
06/01/12 10:44
Well, I had some fun talking to my friend Gail from
MitzvahChic.com yesterday and they will be up and
running soon. We talked about her exciting new site
layout and I’m going to be designing some templates for
bar/bat mitzvah online rsvps for her. I’ve done these
in the past and she loved them. Looking forward to it.
I’m thinking themes: princess, all sports, modern or
cooking. All the images will link back here to my
website so hopefully that will result in lots of juicy
business for me!
Going to the city later tonight to eat at Le French Triomphe and see Other Desert Cities on Broadway with a gang of women friends in our annual trek. I am concerned about the French Triomphe and the timing couldn’t be worse as I started Weight Watchers again. So, I had to preplan my menu which they teach you to do. I’m looking forward to an evening of salad with balsamic vinegar dressing sans nuts, reinforced by an incredibly filling large bowl of cooked carrots. I will consider my dessert to be a small dish of baked fingerling potatoes supplemented by meager glass of vin ordinaire. ~wheeze~
Here’s a rsvp card I’m working on just so I can get a graphic into this blog post! I’m doing good, I’ve blogged a lot this week. Work wise things are busy, raining...pouring...

Ouch, my poor friends at the formerly fabulous Mitzvahchic.com were brutally hacked away by someone a while ago and lost their online presence! They were such a terrific help to me when I was starting. What a lost resource! :( Fortunately, their incredible Mitzvah Planning Guide is still linkable and attached. Hopefully they’ll be up and running soon. I miss them.

I've owned this store
forever, and I made the very first knish.
I put the tongue and corned beef together, I made matzo and gefilte fish.
I sliced pastrami for the whole East Side, I got the business from an uncle who died.
I make potato salad, cole slaw too. I own the deli, I'm a Jew.*
~with thanks to Stu Moss as he channels Barry Manilow’s “I write the songs”.
I suppose I needed a bit of cheesy humor today. I’m in rush mode. I have to try and finish 3 images by next week. rush-rush-rush :)
Here’s updates to the gorgeous Sara and initial sketching on Michael.

Well, I’m back from a week on a
cruise and was delighted to discover that our
learn “Shabbat Blessings” app had been featured in
the Mitzvah Market (just love these gals) website
under the most fabulous and “with it” title of,
“10 ways Bar/Bat Mitzvahs have gone Hi
Tech!” Thrillingly, (is that a word? it
should be), we are in the number one slot!
In other news, I am full blast into another bar mitzvah season. My business-wise new year’s resolution is to blog more. :D

Oliner Graphics will be on
vacation until January 3rd. Your questions are important
to me and I will do my best to answer them, but I may not
be as quick to respond next week. In case you want to
order a package and are worried you’ll miss the sale, I
have decided to extend the Hanukkah sale into January. I
wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday season.
